[Swimming] Goldfish

Lightly.
Gracefully.
Following the heart’s desire.

In life,
there are times when things don’t go as planned.

Our environment.
Our circumstances.
Conventional wisdom.
Other people’s expectations.

Without even realizing it,
we live our lives bound by so many things.

But what truly holds us captive
is not the outside world,

but ourselves—
the part of us that has decided,
“I can’t do it.”

A goldfish swimming freely even in a small pool of water.

Without fighting the current,
simply choosing its own direction of travel.
Fluttering its beautiful tail and dorsal fins.

Freedom is not
about being unbound by anything,
but about never forgetting the desire to head toward the place you long for.

I’ve poured into this the courage to live as yourself
and the wish to swim out into a new world.

May you swim freely
toward the scenery you long for.
